Hola,
Llegué hace unas horas a Londres. Hace un poco de frio - y no estoy hablando del tiempo, o eso me parece-. A ver que pasa mañana, la NocheVieja!!! Me parece mucho! Me parece demasiado!
Gracias a Dios, puedo viajar.
2007 fue un año muy interesante!
Saludos,
Sarah
Que Dios le Bendiga!
Feliz año nuevo!
My licence to write.I will write what burns inside. That is what I will express.

My highlights for 2007 (Good and Bad)
In no particular order:
1.Hosting a CouchSurfing member at my shared apartment in Madrid.See my profile here.
2.Joining my first Network Marketing Company. It was a wealth of experience.I learnt languages,I learnt what it really means or takes to be a successful network marketer.I learnt about people and relationships! That I should take it as my own business. The whole venture gave me some highs, when I got people to listen to my sales pitches and they bought something. The lows were of course part of the growth, and that saw me tearing or playing blame games.Hay que cumplir los compromisos!I trully learnt a lot in terms of preparation and organization in order to achieve goals. Professionalism, consistency and confidence as well as the invaluable transformation is unprecedented. I made some silly mistakes too. Those will remain as chuckles to be shared with my children in the future:)God willing.
3.My first business trip in my 8:30 to 7 job.I went to Amman,Jordan. It was exciting and it broke all the stereotypes about the people and culture from this country.I also visted Petra which soon thereafter was announced one of the 8 new wonders of the world on the 7th of July in 2007 in Lisbon,Portugal!I would like to go to Mount Nebo next time I go.Mount Nebo in Jordan and La basilique du Sacré-Cœur in Paris inspired me to also go and recharge my Christian life by admiring places(cathedrals, churches, chapels) in cities I visit which indicate divinity and praise to God through its faithful in those early times or just to share worship in a foreign country.
4.My university friend came to visit all the way from South Africa. Our relationship grew and we had many honest conversations.
5.¿Porque no sola?:I travelled to various destinations on my own.Its so liberating and the human experiences of those that gave a helping hand, either from poiting me to a right direction when I asked(though in a foreign language to them),to stories I heard..These will last with me for a long while. These destinations include Andalucia(Sevilla,Cordoba and Cadiz),Paris,Edinburgh,Prague and tomorrow London. However,I want my next trips to involve more preparation so that I research to know what I am expecting to see,and then understand and appreciate the experience when I see the sightsThis is a richer experience than the freestyling get-there-and-then-what approach!?
6.My sister passed Matric in a way that makes her happy and confident to even upgrade her choice of study or field. She wants to do Computer Engineering!More blessings to her from the Almighty.
7.The violent and tragic passing of our pastor´s daughter and her husband in a fire.I rethought my mortality in a very serious light. But still God triumphs in the lives of their children and family left behind....(I have written about this event in one of my earlier posts!)
8.I rented for the first time on my own in Madrid since coming here in 2005.I rented in two places, the latter being better in terms of proximity to city centre,Sol,flatmates who are my peers and buddies, relaxed atmosphere, internet(well, currently unavailable as we are changing our provider yet again:()...Proximity to my favourite places, networking clubs, sports, galleries, theatres and 3 equidistant Metrosfrom my apartment!
9.I first learnt about the secret from Lisa Nichols,Proctor,Brian Tracy...
10.I finally GOT IT with respect to youtube.com,myspace.com and others as ginormous networking and marketing tools empowered by Web 2.0 technology...(I have written about this technology in one of my earlier posts!)
11.I started to read diligently.I have realised the wealth of self-development and networking with the right people.
12.I am starting to learn to not overcommit,to leverage my needs as well.
13.I diligently watch and discern my thoughts.
14.I labelled myself Work In Progress. This is the Industrial Engineer in me meeting the future of continuous personal development aka continuous improvemnet in IE circles.
15.I moved to the Financial department of my 8:30 to 7pm job.Its somewhat a baptism of fire, but Im learning more about myself,Im being more Christian (depending on God) through the difficulties,as well as asserting my needs and ways of communication.
...The list continues!

Merry Christmas
Dear Blogreader,
Im writing this blog from Prague, the Chech Republic.Im very excited to be here.Having arrived last night in the blistering cold,I have not seen much yet but I intend to.Im in a hostel more or less in central Prague.I will write more later about my total experience and also post some photos.
In the meantime, while checking my mails I noticed all the dynamic marketers had sent me mail n hristmas day ether a Christmas wish or the next webinar and usually both things.Even though it was autoresponders it got me thinking in 2 ways. One, that not the whole wold has put tools down and that at this time of the year it is probably an interesting mix of possbility and openess of people to try new and effetive ways of earning income.Residual income idea is not a bad idea to anyone who looks at their whole year and sighs with job dissappointmnt or growng financial demands of life.
So Agel, might be that answer for me.
Lets see what happens on the 27th as I sign up and do my best!
Merry Christmas and God Bless

Speed reading and enhanced memory capabilities
Dear blogreader,
Today I conducted an aptitude test for a speed reading course offered in the city.I first came accross the company and its offer of this useful personal developmenent skil at a trade exposition. Finally,I declined to take up the course due to limited time as the course was on weekdays after work and was going to clash with my Spanish lessons. The second deterrent was the high fee.At 1600€,it was exorbitantantly high even for acquisition of this special skill.
Since, the initial plan to learn through the company was abandoned,I searched the net for books to improve my reading skills.I felt I needed this skill yesterday to devour all the books I have at home. There were two parts to the aptitude test. The first was to read out words form a paragraph, while an assistant is sliding down a triangular frame. This technique obviously blocks other words, and will apparently endow a reader with the valuable skill to speed reading of skim reading. The traiangular frame inhibits a person from reading word by word.We were all taught to read word by word from childhood, however this learned and limiting habit is inefficient for learning.A human being´s pair of eyes is meant to capture information, sgnals or visuals as blocked units,That just simply mean we see complete objects, not half paintings nor half buildings as examples.Hence the use of the triangular shape is to force the eyes, to make a quick and rapid snapshot of the words while being slided along the literature.A useful approach to this is to hold books further than usual,as to see more of the text!
In my second exercise to determine my reading and memory levels,I was given an article to read.It was in formal but not very technical Spanish so I could follow it with relative ease. The time it took me to read it was timed. The article was taken away and I was given a set of questions relating to the article to answer! It turned out that for that article I had 70 to 80% retention rate in short term memory!!
Finally,I really see many advantages for this skill;whether someone reads a lot in their career or field, for example in translation,or for avid readers and even people who are lazy to read can benefit from this skill. That is people who usually dont read, can work at their skill now,and read in a less cumbersome(word-by-word) and labour intensive way,as the old method obviously required more eye focus and concentration. Its similar to the networking marketing concept of work now,and get paid for the rest of your life.
The benefits of speed reading are to improve reading skills by increasing the number of words read that can be read in each visual triangle.Secondly as a result, decreasing the amount of time spent reading the previously mentioned triangular block and finally decrease the frequency in which a reader skips back to a previous sentence.
I think these are useful skills, dont you?

The day after ¨World Aids Day¨
Dear Blogreader,
A day after this international day of recognition and support for the people living with HIV/AIDS and the scourge of the diseasearound the world,my paternal female cousin succumbed to the disease.I was saddened and am writing to try to see if there will be enough reactions and change in personal behaviour and the need to educate ourselves, friends, families and communities about the disease.
Many communities in South Africa witness the effects of this devastating illness from the stigma associated with it, to the loss of lives of so many promising young South Africans.I also got to see the heartbreak as lived by children and toddlers either living with the disease of after having being orphaned as a result of it,while involved with a university charity organization.I salud all the ABOMAMA(Typical South African reference showing respect to middle-aged women) who either came out of teaching or nursing retirement to give up their homes and well-deserved peaceful solitude in order to open their doors to these children and sometimes their mothers as well.
The challenges for me as a young South African is to practice the ideal. In South Africa, there was an ABC campaign(A=Abstain,B=Be faithful and C=Condomise),and in order to address the epidemic while incorporating all types of belief systems I thought it was all encompassing and thorough. However change starts with me and you in our behaviour. That is not to say that there is only one way to contract the disease, but the facts are sexual transmission is the most eminent way of the spread of the disease.Im not mentioning any new information, but Im hoping to inspire a change in attitude and aptitude towards any members of our infected or affected by it and to stay NEGATIVE if we already are.Health is indeed wealth!
I recall one social worker telling me this poignant observation:If you want to see the risky behaviour people still engage in in their sexual behaviour, visit aborion clinics. The termination of pregnancy is a little too late,in curbing the effects of unprotected sex.
Let that ring in our minds and on our chats with friends...to keep them and ourselves honest with the facts!I want my cousin, who is the second know member of my extended family to die from the disease,to be the last one.
By not, deliberating more on other forms of contracting the the (Human Immunodeficiency Virus)HIV,I am in no way also discounting or discrediting other tragic and unfortunate forms of contracting the disease like in sexual abuse, blood transfusions, drug use, deliberate infection between partners and mother-to-child transmission.
Lastly,I would like to make a point about what I said earlier about aptitudes and education. This is a fundamental part of prevention and in case of an HIV patient´s successful and healthy living. In some communities in South Africa, and this might also be a reality for other countries as well, the denial prompted by the symptoms and finally the diagnosis of the disease, makes people believe in witchcraft or other ways of explaining the disease and this delays critical intervention period when they could start taking antiretroviral drugs and also getting the right family, community, church and workplace support they need!
Rest in Peace,LN!

Holidaying:World´s Top Beaches
Dear Blogreader,
In most parts of the Northern Hemisphere, people are looking forward to the summer holidays right about now.Central to that sunny thought, holiday makers are thinking about the best ways to disconnect, catch up on some personal time or family time, undergo some health or cosmetic treatments etc.
If you are thinking in particular of getting a tan on fine sands with palm trees behind you and endless turqouise-blue waters ahead of you, then have a look at the following destinations here
I have gone to a few beautiful beaches both in Africa and Europe.I mean few in terms of my own travelling experience, and am not implying there are few beautiful beaches on both continents!
Beaches in South Africa
Clifton Beach:In my native South Africa,I have been to the Clifton Beach which is very popular every summer for being a coastal haven for the exclusive club of local trendsetters and international jetsetters. This beach has the same name as the sorrounding upmarket surburb.
Gonubie Beach:I have also been to a beach in the Eastern Cape in a camping town called Gonubie!I went with my final year classmates and we had an excellent time.I was lucky because we arrived on my birthday! The coral reef adds to the beauty and tranquility of this pleasant coastal town ideally lodged between the Gonubie River and the warm current Indian ocean. Therefore, the winters are warm and the summers are hot!
Durban South Beach:I made 3 visits to the Durban South Coast beach.Durban is a cosmopolitan and multicultural city. The suprising experience about my latest visit in February this year, was how much warmer than sorrounding air, the waters were.It was a cloudy day and windy, with the sun teasing to come out every hour or so,and the seawater was a warm blanket. So I basically, sat at the edges of the wave-breakage points and kept warm. Its important to watch out for rocks while playing in the water, the waves can also get quite aggresive and the avoidance of shark infested waters as stated by notice boards along the beach, remains without saying!Pity South Africa is nearing its colder months of June or July now!
Beaches In Spain
The rest of the beaches I have been to have been in Spain and the South of France. In Spain I went to the beaches in Cadiz,Malaga,La Coruña(Galicia) and Sitges (Catalunya) and several beaches in Ibiza!
Cadiz Beach:I was on a day trip while I was in Cadiz, therefore I didnt even get to feel the fine white sand under my feet.I recommend this beach because of the pretty city of Cadiz in the background, great sunny weather, majestic and historical architecture made of fortifications along the city edges with the ocean.
Malaga Beach:I liked this beach, but like Cadiz didnt get to enjoy I as much as I would have wanted to due to time constraints.I had excellent company in Malaga which compensated for it.A good friend from university in South Africa came to visit me in Madrid,so we sat in front of the beach in the afternoon and watched joggers go by,got a tasty whiff of sardines being fried using an open wood fire on the beach...
Sitges Beach:The decision to go to Sitges was a half fluke as well as a process of elimination.Due to my friend´s ingenuity to experience travel in a new and unique way,she recommended we go to a beach in a wine town while in Barcelona. This lead us to Sitges one 40 minutes-long train ride later. The beach was exquisite with boats alongside it and warm great waters.I tanned noticeably against my white bikini that day!It was serene to lay in the sun like that, let go and drift away in thoughts and a well deserved siesta.I think sufficient vitamin D for the whole summer was synthesised that afternoon! It was my friend´s birthday that day too so we ended the day with excellent cake and coffee in a nearby coffeeshop.
Nice beach:Im not sure its even called this way,but its a good geographic reference. After a drive from madrid through San Sebastien thn along the South of France,a sight of the blue-green waters was a God-send.it goes without saying that this city is exquisitely beautiful, but the beach has big sided peddles,so if you want to dip your feet in the water...guess what you have to do:)The people and food compenstate for it hundred-fold though...:)
Ibiza Beaches:The Ibiza experienced is categorised by party life throughout the summer. The beaches were stunning and there were scattered with heavenly bodies, excuse the pun! This island has many beaches and I couldnt go to all of them on my 3 day visit. However,I went to the quiet ones, the party ones (BorraBorra),sunset watching ones(San Antonio) sans the nude ones...well,the fact is you do get some women topless on all these beaches. However the nude ones refer to both men and women in their birthday suits!
All in all, beach life can soothe our minds and relax our bodies while distracting us with the sheer power and beauty of nature of the seas or oceans and encourage the perpertual workaholc to take some real downtime for themselves!

Turn it in
Dear Blogreader,
I just heard about this website used by all types of people from college/university proffessors to journalists to script/song writers and anyone else I didnt mention in the literature world to check if material has been plagiarised or not.
The information highway has made it possible for millions of people to conduct any types of searches and achieve reasonale results. This has also introduced new challenges and solutions to verifying against plagiarism. The challenges are that with the speed of internet and search engines, material can be sourced from various sources and still be easily manipulated for a different result. On the other hand,a website which enables literature to be ¨turned in¨can decipher unathourised referencing with ease.
See a website that verifies any material against plagiarism here. The website is of the same name as the title.
Till soon,
Sarah
